This diagram of mental functions, from an old alchemy book, is colored by several versions of the same fractal. The fractal's lacy look made me think of the structure of neurons (brain cells).

As an artist I am a magician, transformer, and guide to other worlds. I see landscapes in rocks and tree bark, sunsets and galaxies in the peeling paint of old cars. Using Adobe Photoshop and other software, I combine photographs, fractals, and other images from a variety of sources to reveal secret places within and beyond our everyday surroundings. Recent themes in my work include the spiritual/magical dimension of life and the changes wrought by time. I was a writer (educational/nonfiction writer and poet) for most of my life, but beginning at age 50 (I am now 75) I revived a childhood dream of being an artist.
